ACIJ/JMB LAUNCHES YEAR-LONG ACTIVITIES ON REPARATION
The African Caribbean Institute of Jamaica/Jamaica Memory Bank (ACIJ/JMB) in collaboration with the Centre for Reparation Research (CRR), will be launching a year-long series of activities on reparation under the theme From Enslavement to Reparation on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Lecture Hall, Institute of Jamaica, located at the corner of East and Tower Streets, Kingston, commencing at 10:00 a.m. Professor Verene Shepherd, Director of the CRR and Professor of Social History, University of the West Indies, Mona, will be guest speaker at the launch.
On Friday, February 9, 2018, the ACIJ/JMB and the CRR will also be hosting a panel discussion on the issue of reparation, at the IOJ Lecture Hall, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Panellists for this discussion will include Mr. Steven Golding, Co-Chairman, ACIJ/JMB/Liberty Hall Board of Management, Lord Anthony Gifford QC, Priest Rudolph Bailey of the Boboshanti Congress and Mr. Michael Dingwall.
Admission to both events is free. All are invited to attend.
